Australia supports Timor-Leste builds four security posts for the borders police

DILI, 09 february 2021 (TATOLI)– Australian Government has the commitment to support Timor-Leste in the fight against covid-19.

The supports that Australia provides to Timor-Leste is to build four security posts for the border police to monitor the borders and control the movement of people.

“Australia is cooperating with the PNTL to secure the borders and our Police will offer new security posts to support the works of the border police, because the works of border police is vital,” Australia’s Ambassador to Timor-Leste, Peter Robert said after meeting with the Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak at the Palacio do Governo Dili.

At the same time, Mr Robert told the Prime Minsiter about Australia’s commitment on supporting Timor-Leste in combating the coronavirus.

Previously the Interior Vice Minsiter, António Armindo said, Government will cooperate with the its counterparts Aurstlia Government to stablish four security posts for the Police Patrol Unit in the borders.

The number of border forces will also be enlarged to secure the border Bobonaro, Covalima and Oé-Cusse.

These posts are built to complete the other 30 posts in the land borders.
