DILI, 21 may 2021 (TATOLI)— The COVID-19 inter-ministerial commission reports, stated that 53.000 people have been immunized in Timor-Leste, until May 21, 2021.
The Commission spokesperson, Danina Coelho, said, this number including the number of those who have received one covid vaccine offered by the COVAX facility was launched on April 7 and the dose which was offered by the Government of Australia was launched on 10 May 2021.
“Until today, more than 53.000 people in Timor-Leste have been receiving the first dose of AstraZeneca vaccine, since the country starts its first inoculation drive on April 7, 2021,” Danila Coelho said at the press conference held in the MSSI, recent Friday.
Ms. Coelho Explained, the health staffs are yet to provide the vaccine in the health clinic center but they offer the vaccine down to the municipalities and the villages.
”48% of those who have been vaccinated including the priority groups, 6.046 (24%) of those who suffered from comorbidities, 1.268 (5%), of people above 60-year-old without suffered from comorbidities, 455 (18%) of front line workers, 110 (1%) of the health professional, 13.011 (52%) of those under aged 60 without suffering from comorbidities,” She explained.
Likewise, 19% of those over 18 also have been accessed for the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine.
“Although Health staffs have tried maximum efforts on the implementation of the vaccine, yet we noted that the plan for the vaccination does not hit the target in the implementation of the first dose, We encourage the families to intensify the efforts to bring your friends and families including those who have experienced chronic diseases to access to vaccines.,” She said.
According to figures reported by countries until today, Timor-Leste registered 5.121 confirmed covid-19 cases, 11 people have died as a result of COVID-19.
