DILI, 28 may 2021 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation, on behalf of the Government and the people of the Democratic Republic of Timor-Leste welcomes the continued support of the Government and the people of Australia.
According to the note released from the MNEC said the MNEC has extended the congratulation to the Government and People of Australia for the generous support to the people of Timor-Leste especially during the COVID-19 pandemic when Australia provided AstraZeneca vaccines.
For the past two months, there are seventy-three thousand and four hundred and eighty-eight (73.488) Timorese that have been vaccinated, many with Australian AstraZeneca vaccine.
at the same time, Australia through its Embassy in Dili is pleased to support Timor-Leste with Australian-manufactured vaccines, according to the statement posted in the Australian Embassy page.
it is said that Timor-Leste’s COVID-19 vaccination campaign is continuing apace, and Australia is pleased to be supporting with Australian-manufactured vaccines.
Today 20,000 more AstraZeneca arrived in Dili. This is the third shipment this month and brings the total number of Australian-made vaccines supplied to Timor-Leste to 60,000.
Timor-Leste’s Medical and Pharmaceutical Supply Agency (SAMES Timor-Leste) receives and stores the vaccines, ensuring that all cold-chain storage requirements are met, prior to distributing them to vaccination centres in partnership with the Ministry of Health (Palácio das Cinzas).
As COVID cases continue to increase in Dili and throughout Timor-Leste we pay tribute to all those frontline workers who are working hard to administer these vaccines. Vaccinations save lives.
