DILI, 06 june 2021 (TATOLI)- The National Petroleum and Minerals Authority (ANPM ) granted an environmental license for the onshore exploration drilling project proposed by Timor Resources.
The President of ANPM, Florentino Soares Fereira explained, this is the first time that ANPM is granted an environmental license with category A, this license refereed for upstream activities for onshore exploration drilling in Suai Manufahi with PSC contract number TL-OT-17-08.
“It has been 50 years since we have had exploration drilling on land and today we are giving permission so that companies and groups in Timor Resources and Timor GAP can commencements of oil drilling process,” Florentino said to journalists in Suai Room Timor Plaza hall, this tuesday.
He added all projects have risks must carry out an impact study on the community and the environment and provide the environmental impact statement document to ANPM.
“On this license, the company must guarantee to protect the environment and everything around the drilling area. Safety Case focuses on the health and safety of the environment and the community,” he said.
Timor Resources Country Manager, Filomeno de Andrade Tilman thanks the Minister of Oil and Minerals for granting approval, for the first Environmental Category A permit to be issued in the new Democratic State of Timor Leste.
“Our company is very proud to have completed the first modern seismic survey on land, this was completed in 2018. We have prepared well for the drilling campaign,” he explained.
For him, health and safety is our number one priority for Timor Resources, and will minimize the impact on the ecosystem, with good field practices and world-class project management.
In presenting new technologies for good optimization and innovation, Timor Resources will ensure to maintain a license to Operate under the Laws and Regulations of Timor-Leste and this is a category A License.
According to a predetermined schedule, the drilling process will be carried out on September 21 this year with the help of four foreign contractors.
