DILI, 23 july 2021 (TATOLI)-Commissioner of the Anti-Corruption Commission (CAC), Sergio de Jesus F. da C. Hornai said that CAC is currently focusing on corruption prevention programs, (MPCC) to all staff, especially to the head of the direction, directors, general director, national director and ministerial level.
“The contents of regulation no 7/2020/ concern the prevention of corruption, therefore starting from the head of the direction directors including the ministerial level, they must report all their assets to the CAC for their wealth to be followed up,” said Hornai in Delta Nova to Journalist of TATOLI News Agency on friday.
The main purpose of this socialization is to explain regulation no 7/2020 regarding the MPCC so that civil servants, ‘s head of direction, directors and ministers can report their wealth early to authorize CAC to update their wealth.
In the same place, the Secretary of State for Arts and Culture Teofilo Caldas really appreciates the CAC ‘s program regarding the MPCC because through this socialization all public servants, especially the head of direction and all directors of government institutions, will be able to easily control their wealth.
“Regulation No. 7/2020 must be socialized to all civil servants, especially to the head of the department, directors and the ministerial level, so that they can be aware of to avoid corruption in Timor-Leste to save the state money and the population of Timor-Leste’s money,” said Caldas.
Caldas explained that CAC has provided the MPCC form to MESCC and all MESCC employees will fill out the form regarding all their assets before serving as head of the department, directors and others or after become the director an so on.
The purpose of filling out the form is in order that CAC can investigate their wealth which they previously recorded in the form.
He added that all wealth owned by government officials will be evaluated every year, said Caldas
Not to corrupt
The Secretary of State for Arts and Culture, Teofilo Caldas said that corruption in harsh words is stealing people’s money and state money because of that keep your prestige and do not do corruption.
“I appeal to all SEAC civil servants not to think about corruption to enrich yourselves because corruption will undermine your authority and your prestige,” said Caldas.
He explained that you have been paid by the state with a sufficient salary, received allowances and others to serve the people and the country not to think about corruption.
We must be aware that many people who live in rural areas find it very difficult to eat three meals a day, therefore let us work with a sense of nationalism to tribute our heroes who have died fighting for this independence by providing equitable national development to the people of Timor-Leste in general.
“I remind everyone to work honestly and sincerely to advance the country of Timor-Leste which we love, I believe that if everyone is aware not being corrupt, Timor-Leste will be like Singapore in the future,” said Caldas.
Meanwhile, Anti-Corruption Commissioner (CAC), Sergio Hornai, also appealed to all elements of this nation to cooperate with CAC in eradicating corruption in Timor-Leste so that we can save state money and state assets to advance our country.
