DUBAI, 17 october 2021 (TAYOLI)-The Timor-Leste Public Institute for Trade and Investment (TI.IP) cordially hosted a Cocktail function-friendly meeting with business partners at Expo 2020 Dubai.
The friendly meeting aims to strengthen partnerships with other countries by sharing trade, investment, and innovation experiences to drive the country’s economic growth, as well as the opportunities offered during Expo 2020 Dubai.

Minister of Economy and Coordination (MEKAE), Joaquin Amaral said that this world exhibition event offers an opportunity for business partners who come from all over the world to share ideas, experiences and introduce business progress achievements.
Amaral said, Introducing the achievements of business partners to the world is a great opportunity, therefore Timor-Leste should pursue opportunities for this business forum.
“Human resources are one of the points of involvement in business partnerships that will be discussed in more depth for any solutions in developing trade and investment with partner countries,” said Amaral.
Timor-Leste found a fundamental dateline on engagement for the upcoming business forum, which will be held in November and December this year.
Director of Trade and Investment, Arcanjo da Silva said, taking advantage of this opportunity, Timor-Leste stepped closer to the world, adding that Timor-Leste needed support from other countries.

“The gathering of all business partners at the Dubai Expo to make our world brighter and together to overcome any problem and find a solution together. Timor-Leste is committed to the progress of the country’s development, therefore take this opportunity to approach new partners to share experiences on trade and investment,” Silva told the media at the complex of Timor-Leste Pavillion, Expo 2020 Dubai.

The President of the National Oil and Minerals Agency, Florentino Soares Ferreira said Timor-Leste continues to have opportunities to advance all resources, even acknowledging the lack of human resource skills to explore the resources, especially for the oil, gas, and minerals sectors: “Timor-Leste has good integration with foreigners on oil and gas policies and encourages many partners to sign memorandums of understanding (MoUs) for the exploration of the country natural resources,”
According to Ferreira, Timor-Leste is allocated close to Southeast Asia’s door and enough to expose the released economy to South Korea, Japan, and China.
For this part of the meeting, New Zealand’s Commissioner-General for Expo 2020 Dubai, Clayton Kimpton said New Zealand was honored by this friendly meeting, saying that New Zealand stands in its commitment to supporting Timor-Leste.

“Today, I received some input from the line minister regarding the business forum which will be held in November and December this year. I appreciate the opportunity to be part of a business forum to share experiences and ideas that will benefit other participating countries,” said Mr. Kimton.
Australia’s Deputy Commissioner General, Clare Cooney stressed that the world business forum is a special moment to gather ideas, share experiences and gather input for future business and trade investments.
“I will gather information on the progress of any country that will join the business forum, including Timor-Leste. I would take the whole ideas to Australia to associate with the government policies for any business investment. This will be a time to create, collaborate, trade, invest and innovate with countries around the world.” Cooney told the reporters in Al Wasl Plaza, Expo Duba, this Saturday.
