Timor-Leste hits 60 percent double dose vaccination rate

DILI, 2 december 2021 (TATOLI) – Timor-Leste has reached a 60.2 percent (454.380) double dose mark, said the Spokesperson of the Inter-Ministerial Commission on COVID-19 Vaccination Plan, Danina Coelho.

As of december 1, 2021, 81.3 percent (613.412) of Timorese people aged 18 and above had received at least one dose of the vaccine.

In Timor-Leste, 754.864 adult groups were eligible to receive the Covid-19 vaccines.

“On behalf of the Government of Timor-Leste, I call on those communities who had received the first dose of the AstraZeneca vaccine to get their second shot,” Coelho made the comments in a press conference held at the Ministry of Social Solidarity and Inclusion (MoSSI), in Dili, today.

In Timor-Leste, more than 33.866 or 18.6 percent of children had received at least one dose of the Pfizer vaccine, of which 13.324 or 7.3 percent had been fully vaccinated, since the launching of the Pfizer vaccine for children between the ages of 12 and 17 in the country.

Covid-19 vaccination: Municipality Tracker 

At least four municipalities have now fully vaccinated more than 60 percent of their adult residents. Four of these municipalities – Dili (76.9%), Viqueque (70.7%), and Covalima (68.8%) and RAEAO (67.7%). However, the vaccination rate is low in Ermera and Bobonaro with 37.2% and 41.1% respectively.

So far, Timor-Leste had received a total of 1.313.270 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, consisting of 1.112.650 doses of AstraZeneca, 100.000 doses of SINOVAC (China), and 100.620 doses of Pfizer vaccines (USA).

Of the 1.012.650 AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines, 100.800 doses were given by COVAX Facility, 24.000 doses from New Zealand, 677.850 does were donated by the government of Australia, 142.000 doses from Portugal, and 168.000 doses were given by the Japanese government.

Coelho said of all received vaccines, 14.180 doses were expired on october 31, and 85.250 doses expired on november 9.

Since Timor-Leste’s outbreak began in April 2020, the country has recorded 19.822 cases, 19.697 recoveries, and 122 deaths.
