DILI 25 november 2022 (TATOLI)- Minister of Education Youth and Sport (MoEYS) will release six junior high students to participate International Junior Science Olympiads (IJSO)competition in Colombia Dolgota.
The six students are composed of two boys and four girls from four schools Junior High school of CAFÉ Maliana, Ruy Cinatte Portuguese School, St. Inacio Do Lóio Lá School, and Dili International Junior High School.
Deputy Minister of MoEYS, Antonio Guterres said it is a great opportunity for Timorese students to promote knowledge and ability in Natural science.
“We must proud of this opportunity to participate for IJSO at the international level. Today we take a second opportunity to participate in participating IJSO competition in Colombia Dolgota,’’ Deputy Minister of MoEYS, Antonio Guterres said in his remarks, in Vila Verde, this Friday.
Guterres, said the students need the effort to be qualified for this competition and to promote Timor-Leste outside the country.
National Coordinator of Science and Culture (UNESCO) in Timor-Leste, Luis Novio said that the competition will be focused on science including mathematics, Physics, chemistry, and Biology subjects.
“The competition will focus on multiple texts, Theoretical texts, and Experimental texts,”
Following the schedule of the competition, Novio added that the competition will be conducted for two weeks in Colombia Dolbgota City starting on December 3 to 11 2022.
The teams will be departed for Colombia on 28 November 2022.
A student from Dili International School, Neydra Huto Lelotar said that I have taken intensive preparation for almost one month.
“I have full confidence to do my best in this competition. All effort will be made to prove the personal and also groups skills,’’ She said
So far, In 2019 Timor-Leste has won a bronze medal in the first participation of the International Junior Science Olympic in Qatar.
For this year, around 70 countries will be joining the competition.
