MoH to build five more health posts and houses for health workers in five municipalities

DILI, 09 january 2023 (TATOLI) – The Ministry of Health (MoH) will build five more new health posts and houses for health workers in five municipalities this year.

The Director of Administration, Logistics, and Asset Management, of Minister of Health, Emilia Mendonça, said the government through the ministry of Health had allocated over $2.5 million to build new houses for health workers including health posts.

MoH will construct more health posts in five municipalities Ainaro, Ataúro, Baucau, Bobonaro, and Manatuto in 2023 with a total of $.2, 5 Million budget.

“We have a strategy to build houses for health workers which are closed by health post, it should not be difficult for them to work and provide the service to patients,’’ The Director of Administration, Logistics and Asset Management, of Minister of Health, Emilia Mendonça told Tatoli in her office, Caicoli, this Monday

She added that otherwise, the distance between health staff and health pots is far away, and this planning will reduce the impact of providing effective service to patients.

Therefore, the Minister of Health built seven buildings in the municipalities of Aileu, Bobonaro, Baucau, Covalima, Ermera, Lautém, and Viqueque, two of which are under construction.

According to Emilia Mendonça, the Government has allocated US$2.6 million for these buildings, including a pediatric and surgical center in Maliana.

“The progress of building in seven municipalities has achieved 75% and remains 25%, this 25% refers to two construction projects,” she explained

So far the Government has built 87% of quarantine, laboratory, isolation, and Intensive Care Unit projects to respond to covid-19 and respond to new outbreaks in the future with a budget of US$10.4 million.
