DILI, 17 january 2023 (TATOLI) – Health Ministry has handed over the site project for the construction of a five-storey building to two international companies – China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation, and PT Bennatin Surya Cipta.
The handover ceremony took place at the Guido Valadares National Hospital (HNGV) on Monday (16/01).
The five-storey building would be used for pediatric and ICCU (Coronary Intensive Care Unit) services.
The official ceremony for laying the foundation stone of the hospital building would be launched by Prime Minister, Taur Matan Ruak, on february 9, 2023.
Due to limited spaces, sometimes the HNGV runs out of room to accumulate new patients for hospitalization. Therefore, the construction of the five-storey building would help to manage the overcrowded patients at the HNGV.
Last week, Health Minister Odete Belo revealed that the South Korean government will also support Timor-Leste to the Dili Municipal Hospital, which will help reduce overcrowding at the HNGV.
Belo said that the South Korean government would provide funds for the construction of the hospital: “I still don’t know the exact amount of the money, but they confirmed to us about the fund that would be given for the construction of the hospital.”
Besides the Díli municipal hospital, three other municipal hospitals would be built in Ermera, Viqueque, and Lautem.
