UNDP to install solar water pump systems to benefit 200 households in Bobonaro

Bobonaru, 20 september 2023 (TATOLI)- The United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) supported Bobonaro Authority in supplying clean water to 200 households in Lour village Bobonaro, through a solar water pump system.

Ernesto De Oliveira Barreto, President of Bobonaro Municipality said: “This project is part of the UNDP program which is implemented in Bobonaru municipality. UNDP supported local authority to install solar system water pump to supply clean water for over 200 family in Laur village, Bobonaru municipality,’’ Barreto told journalists in Lour village, Monday.

Solar water pump system is a solar system and friendly to the environment. It uses using photovoltaic panel function of the water pump system. Photovoltaic water pumping systems convert solar energy into electrical energy to power the water and pump. Solar water pumping technology can be considered a promising alternative to electricity, diesel, or gasoline-based pumping systems as they are cost alternatives to electricity, diesel, or gasoline-based pumping systems as they are cost-effective and environment friendly.

Chief of Village Lour, Miguel Gomes Lopes at the same time hopes that the clean water supply protection will be launched in a short time.

“We all understand that it is a pilot project which supported by UNDP. We need to put hands to work together to ensure these projects will succeed,’’ He said

He added this solar water pumped system will supply clean water to 200 communities in three areas such as Helikei, Olo-Olo no Tasgolo.

“Currently two villages including Heliei and Tas Golo access to clean water with a very low volume,”
