COVID-19 update: CIGC reports 76 new cases, 169 recoveries and active cases at 1.093

DILI, 19 june 2021 (TATOLI) – The Integrated Crisis Management Center (CIGC) today, recorded 76 new cases of COVID-19 in the country, with 169 recoveries, and the active cases were 1.093.

Of the new cases, 35 were detected in capital Dili, 18 in Baucau municipality, and the rest from other municipalities, including 1 in Bobonaro, 1 in Liquica, 8 each in Manatuto, and Manufahi, and 5 in Viqueque municipality.

The spokesperson of CIGC, Dr. Rui Maria de Araujo said that of the 76 new cases, 9.2 percent were symptomatic.

He said 71 of today’s cases were between the age of 12 and 59, including 2 children under 12 and 3 elderly persons over 60.

Araujo added 25 patients were under treatment at Vera Cruz Isolation Center and 2 patients were in critical condition.

Since yesterday, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has carried out 724 PCR tests, including, 57 via contact tracing, 176 through random screening, 469 were carried out following the request for travel authorization out of capital Dili, 4 for the international travel authorization, and 3 in quarantines.

The evolution of the COVID-19 in Timor-Leste, the incidence rate of coronavirus is, on average, in the last week, of 4.9 per 100 thousand inhabitants, while in Baucau municipality 14.2, in Dili 10.3 and Manatuto 5.8.

As of Friday (18/06), a total of 12.125 of Timor-Leste’s population have been vaccinated.

The CIGC reiterated its call on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus. Despite the ICGC’s records showing a slight drop in cases over the past week in the capital Dili, however, cases in Baucau municipality mounted to 187, while Manatuto to 23.

There has been a total of 8.678 lab-confirmed cases of the virus in Timor-Leste, with 7.566 recoveries, active cases were 1.093 and 19 deaths, according to data of the CIGC.
