Covid-19 Update: TL reports four new cases, bringing the total active cases to 33

DILI, 28 january 2022 (TATOLI) – In the past 24 hours, Timor-Leste recorded four new COVID-19 cases, three recoveries, and 33 active cases, said Timor-Leste health authorities.

The new cases were detected in Dili, while there are two people with the mild condition of COVID-19 in the hospital.

In the past 24 hours, the National Health Laboratory (LNS) has performed 45 PCR tests in Dili, including 10 via contact tracing, 23 through random screening, nine for international travel authorization, and three in quarantines.

The health authorities kept calling on communities to practice the health and safety guidelines recommended by the Ministry of Health (MoH) and the WHO to continue combating the spread of the virus.

Since Timor-Leste’s outbreak began in april 2020, the country has recorded 19.898 cases, 19.743 recoveries, and 122 deaths.

In Timor-Leste, of the 754.864 eligible adult groups, 84.1% had received at least one dose of the COVID-19 vaccine, of which 70.7% have been fully vaccinated.

The country has so far vaccinated 19.6% of students with the first dose of the Pfizer vaccine, of which 16.1% have already been fully vaccinated.

Covid-19 vaccination: Municipality Tracker

At least four municipalities have now fully vaccinated more than 70 percent of their adult residents. Four of these municipalities included Dili (82.2%), Viqueque (83.1%), Covalima (77.1%) and RAEAO (73.4%). However, the vaccination rate is low in Ermera and Bobonaro with 52.5% and 53.8% respectively.

So far, Timor-Leste had received a total of 1.213.279 doses of Covid-19 vaccines, consisting of 1.012.850 doses of AstraZeneca, 100.000 doses of SINOVAC (China), and 100.620 doses of Pfizer vaccines (USA).

Of the 1.012.650 AstraZeneca Covid-19 vaccines, 100.800 doses were given by COVAX Facility, 24.00 doses from New Zealand, 777.850 does were donated by the government of Australia, 142.000 doses from Portugal, and 168.000 doses were given by the Japanese government.
