Dubai Expo: TL team work promotes Timorese Coffee at Angola Pavilion

DILI, 23 february 2022 (TATOLI)—The Timor-Leste (TL) team work is promoting the originality of Timorese coffee at Angola Pavilion at Expo Dubai 2020.

According to a note officially published by Timor-Leste Ministry of Tourism, Trade and Industry (MTCI) said Angola Pavilion is welcoming a work team from Timor-Leste to promote original coffee, this is a product that is tasty and has a good smell that attract the visitors in Angola Pavilion. This activity is done on monday.

The Representative of the TL work team, Zito Correia said, the purpose of participation in the international event was considered as an opportunity to promote TL Coffee products.

It is a vital opportunity to promote Timor-Leste products, especially coffee products to all visitors and they can test the originality of coffee.

The TL work team representative was accompanied by the Director of the TL Pavilion at Expo Dubai 2020, Jelino Soares and Senior Diplomat, Licinio Branco from the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Cooperation. They are directly visiting the Angola Pavilion and observing the activity.

Apart from being a participant, Zito Correia also became a speaker at the event and told the history of Timorese Coffee in Timor since, in 1860.

The representative said, although currently TL has two variants of Coffee, Arabica and Robusta but in 1920 there was a new variant called Hibrido de Timor where the variant is a cross between Arabica and Robusta which is located in Matanoba, Fatubesi, Ermera municipality.

This activity is organized by the Angola pavilion on inviting Timor-Leste to promote originality coffee from Timor-Leste.

The event was an initiative of a working team from the country pavilion of Angola and was participated by other countries such as Ethiopia, São Tomé e Príncipe, Costa Rica, Mexico, Saudi Arabia and Egypt.

Angola Coffee was displayed at Expo 2020 Dubai with a program called “Cafés de Angola”, namely Angola Coffees. The Angolan coffee brands in international exhibitions are Café Ginga, Café Bela Negra, Café Calulo, Café Gabela, Novagrolíder, Cáfrica and Tumbwaza.

The event was held as part of the economic diplomacy program. In the opening session, Angola’s chief representative at the event, Albina Assis Africano. It highlighted the cultural and economic role of coffee in producing countries, with visitors praising the organizers for the initiative.

Angola is a definitive member and full-fledged country of the Portuguese-speaking organization, CPLP (Community of Portuguese Language Countries) where Timor-Leste also takes part due to similar historical and cultural value.
