DILI, 17 july 2024 (TATOLI) – The President of the Republic, Jose Ramos Horta expressed his satisfaction with the existence of the Timor Avante Movement (MOTIVA) as this movement participates in the formation of future leadership in Timor-Leste.

The Head of State expressed this during a presentation and dialogue with over 120 MOTIVA members, initiated by Fidelis Leite Magalhães, including Merício Juvenal dos Reis “Akara” and others, at the Noble Palace of Lahane.

“During the dialogue, the President of the Republic also expressed concern for future leaders with political and international experience, so that the existence of various movements can consolidate strength to contribute to future leadership and national development,” said in a statement.

Based on the experience of advanced nations in the world, Ramos-Horta explained that advanced nations are built from strong, centralized leadership with continuity in government programs and strong youth formation for the nation’s future.

Before the MOTIVA youth, the Head of State asked Political Parties not to stop their activities after elections, stressing the need for continuity in party activities. He requested that political parties use their resources according to the party’s personal experience in the government structure so that they can implement a good vision to execute the State’s general vision.

On this occasion, the Head of State also called attention to all citizens, especially the youth, to consider reconciliation so as not to discredit Timorese who left Timor in 1999 for Indonesia.

For the future, the President of the Republic is always available to groups or associations, including MOTIVA, who are willing to promote youth through dialogue.
