WHO provides high-quality simulation equipment, mannequins, anatomical models, and medical books to UCT

DILI, 02 June 2025 (TATOLI) – On Monday, WHO provided high-quality simulation equipment, mannequins, anatomical models, and medical books to Universidade Católica Timorense (UCT) to strengthen its teaching capacity. The delivery included maternal and child health, emergency medicine, and critical care training tools.

“Simulation-based training is a game-changer in clinical education, offering students hands-on experience in a controlled environment,” said WHO Representative, Arvind Mathur.

The equipment was handed to Chancellor His Holiness Reverend Cardinal Virgílio do Carmo da Silva, who acknowledged WHO’s support: “Though UCT is only four years old, our students are praised for their compassion. This partnership helps us train qualified future doctors.” Vice Minister of Health, Flavio Brando also acknowledged the support.

The package included Basic Life Support materials, developed with Timor-Leste’s Ministry of Health, ensuring students can respond effectively in emergencies. WHO also supplied updated medical textbooks, journals, and digital training resources for faculty and students.
