DILI, 2 august 2022 (TATOLI)– The temporary bridge constructed by the ASPALINK company in Becusse has reached 80% of the construction process, said I Jin Filipe, Director of the ASPALINK company.
I Jin Filipe said construction company ASPALINK was responsible for building a temporary bridge in Becusse with government-owned construction materials.
“We are in charge of building a temporary bridge in Becusse. The bridge material is owned by the government, and currently the construction process has reached 80 percent of the construction” said Filipe told TATOLI at his office in Bemori, Tuesday.
Filipe said the ASPALINK company was instructed by the Government to remove the construction materials from the Mota Masin bridge in Suai, to be used on the Becuse bridge.
“We have moved bridge materials at Mota Masin Suai, and transported them to Dili. The materials about 50 tons consisting of steel and other related materials for steel bridge construction,” said Filipe.
He said: The bridge being built in Becusse is a temporary bridge that is 20 meters long, this bridge will be used temporarily while waiting for the construction of a permanent bridge,”
According to Filipe, the construction will be completed in August and can be accessed by the public.
Previously, the Director of the Ministry of Public Work (MoPW), Abel Pires said that the construction of the bridge in Becusse had already started in july 2022, and the government place its trust in the local company ASPALINK to hold the project on the construction of the bridge in Becusse.
Pires stated that the construction of this temporary bridge is to help the community continue to access the road while waiting for the construction of the permanent bridge and it is also helping the government answer the community’s problems, particularly in Taibesse and Becusse.
“To prevent the communities around Taibesi and Bekuse from the flooding, the government decided to remove the materials in Mota Masin Suai bridge to install in Bekuse, while waiting for the construction of the permanent bridge to be completed,” said Pires.
The Bekuse Bridge was constructed following the instruction from Prime Minister Taur Matan Ruak, in 2021, while making direct observations of Becusse after the flash flood on April 4, 2021.
So far the construction funded by the Government of Timor-Leste through the Minister of Public Work (MoPW) amounts to 90.000 USD.
